The Ontario Public Service Employees Union has marked Wednesday, January 17, 2007 as "Developmental Services - Worker Appreciation Day". Across Ontario activities and events are planned to honour the professional women and men who are on the frontlines of a dramatically under-funded service. Together, they provide a wide range of services and supports to some of our province's most vulnerable, and sometimes most fragile citizens. These workers, including Counselors, Support Workers, Therapists, Psychologists, and other support staff are dedicated to improving access to the community and improving the quality of life for their clients and their families. OPSEU recognizes that our members working conditions are the living conditions of the people they serve. Through public dialogue and appropriate government funding, both must be improved.

Workers in the field of Developmental Services have much to be proud of. And OPSEU salutes their efforts. I urge the public to join us on January 17, 2007 to help celebrate the marvelous work that they do.
